Fullmetal: The Sequel? [UPDATED 7/6/08]

On 7/6/08, ANN released this statement from BONES in which they state that “an internal investigation has determined that no file with this same formatted information existed within the company…the information which is reportedly the staffers’ personal details did not come from the company’s documents.” In addition to this, “they determined that ‘a third party’ had created and posted document with the intent to libel the company.”

So, basically, BONES denies everything. XD

Haha…oh well. It was a fun rumor while it lasted. However, there is one silver lining here – ANN asked about the possibility of a real Fullmetal sequel, and BONES had this to say; ” “It hasn’t been decided yet. We are interested in doing them. As original science-fiction works, they were extremely fascinating. With these kinds of dramatic story lines, I feel that there’s a lot we could do potentially.”

So, that’s a kind-of, maybe, sort-of, we-don’t-really-know? I’ll keep my fingers crossed…

Canned Dogs posted today that reports have been leaked of a possible Fullmetal Alchemist sequel! The list (which was let slip by BONES, and which I have a link to here) includes the names, home phone numbers, addresses of the animators who may be working on the project (lol – who cares about internet security and protection against identity theft? Not BONES, that’s for sure! XD), but most importantly lists Irie Yasuhiro (Alien Nine, Phantom Memory KURAU) as director.

Personally, I would love to see a Fullmetal sequel – mostly because I do love FMA, but also because I would be quite interested to see how they try to get themselves out of the anime-exclusive-storyline hole they dug with the last few episodes and Conqueror of Shamballa. They were done well, but they definitely weren’t doing any kind of obvious lead-up to a sequel.

…thoughts? Keep in mind that at this point in time, this is nothing more than pure RUMOR! But rumors are fun, right? I mean, we’re all having fun waiting for SHnY 2 and looking at ten million pics of long-hair!Haruhi, right…right? ;)
